Using the right proxy format is key to ensuring smooth setup and compatibility with your applications. Squid Proxies provides different formats for datacenter and residential proxies, tailored to their unique configuration and login methods.
IP:PORT Format
Datacenter proxies from Squid Proxies use a simple connection format that looks like this:
123.456.78.90:8800
- 123.456.78.90 = Proxy IP address
- 8800 = Proxy port
This format is commonly used with IP-based authentication. Once you whitelist your device’s IP in the My Proxies section, you can start using your proxies without needing to enter any login credentials. Just copy and paste the IP and port into your application or browser.
This method is ideal if you're on a fixed network and prefer a hands-off, login-free experience.
Username:Password@IP:PORT Format
Residential proxies support both IP whitelisting and login-based access. If you choose to authenticate with a username and password, your proxy format will look like this:
user123:pass456@123.456.78.90:3128
This method is perfect for users who move between networks or need flexibility, such as for rotating sessions. Some applications let you input this entire string, while others may ask for the IP, port, username, and password separately.
🔄 Depending on your setup, you can switch between authentication modes as needed—but make sure you're using the correct format to avoid connection issues.
